Antigen Background
NKX3.1 is an androgen-regulated, prostate-specific tumor suppressor that supports epithelial differentiation and growth control, and its loss contributes to prostate cancer development. NKX3.1 expression is primarily found in the nuclei of prostate secretory luminal epithelial cells, with limited basal expression and occasional presence in select non-prostatic tissues such as the salivary gland. NXK3.1 is expressed in entities arising from prostate epithelium, such as benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), and prostate adenocarcinoma, with expression in non-prostatic tumors such as subsets of salivary gland tumors and breast carcinoma.
Disclaimer
NKX3.1 is recommended for the detection of specific antigens of interest in normal and neoplastic tissues, as an adjunct to conventional histopathology using non-immunologic histochemical stains.
