Hintergrund des Antigens

Saures Gliafaserprotein (Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein, GFAP) ist ein Intermediärfilament-Protein von 52 kD, das in den Gliazellen (z. B. Astrozyten und Ependymzellen) exprimiert wird.

Im peripheren Nervensystem wurde GFAP in den Schwann-Zellen, enterischen Gliazellen und Satellitenzellen der humanen sensorischen Ganglien nachgewiesen; in neoplastischem Gewebe wird GFAP in Astrozytomen und Ependymomen exprimiert.

In manchen Fällen lassen sich mithilfe der hitzeinduzierten Epitopdemaskierung (Heat Induced Epitope Retrieval, HIER) die Färbeergebnisse mit NCL-GFAP-GA5 verbessern.
