Gill I, II, III Nuclear Stains

Three Gill formulations are available:

  • The Gill I formula is generally recommended for cytology.
  • The stronger Gill III is usually preferred for use in histology.
  • GIll II is a medium strength hematoxylin.

The Gill formula hematoxylins are used in the progressive method of staining.

The Gill formulations do not contain mercury.
